The beginnings of Magura date back to 1893 in the small German town of Bad Urach. The people of the Swabian region are said to have a unique inventive spirit. The inventor Gustav Magenwirth, who later became the founder of Magura, was probably also blessed with this spirit, as he initially developed petrol engines and hydraulic press pumps quite successfully. The company then entered the business of handlebar controls for two-wheelers in 1923. Magura quickly made a name for itself as an original equipment manufacturer for renowned two-wheeler manufacturers at this time. The good reputation and high renown of the manufacturer from those days has survived to this day.
